Day 3 is the day that separates the well-trained from the posers. I told my friends who were considering running Dopey that the 5k and 10k were cake. You could do those anytime and still hop the parks. It was the half marathon that was the killer. Running 13.1 miles and then running 26.2 the next day (after your muscles have had time for the aching to set in) is much tougher than it sounds.
Last year was so hot the half marathon was torture. This year was pleasant. We had coolish weather and no rain. It was easy going.

Launchpad? Ok, in my defensive, Darkwing Duck was with him. Two people before my turn to take a photo, Darkwing had to take off. I wouldn’t have stopped for just Launchpad, but since I was already there. BOO.
This is the first time in the weekend you’ll run through the castle, which is the most awesome part of the race (and I never get a good photo of myself running through the castle). You run through the castle about halfway through. That and running down Main Street which is packed with people cheering you on are probably the best parts of the 10k.
My costume was Vanellope Von Schweetz from Wreck It Ralph. I should have picked her for the whole marathon, because Ralph was out during the whole!
And yes, I carried a steering wheel.
After the Race
After the race, I headed to Splitsville to meet up with my online running club. They are an awesome group of people from all over the world who all love Disney and running. Splitsville is located in Downtown Disney and has bowling and pizza. I wasn’t really in the mood for pizza before the marathon, so I stopped at Wolfgang Puck’s afterwards and had something a bit lighter. The construction in Downtown Disney made parking a little harder than usual, but marathon weekend is usually a bit on the slow side for Disney anyway. Try going during Spring Break. Puck’s is one of the best place to eat in Downtown Disney, but it’s not very “Disney.”
